Chris Powell had one enforced change to make, newcomer Dany N’Guessan coming in for the injured Johnnie Jackson.

Leon Cort partnered Michael Morrison with Matt Taylor dropping to the bench. Danny Hollands took the captain’s armband.

Both Scott Wagstaff and Darel Russell retained their places with Green and Stephens again on the bench. The other newcomer, Lee Cook, was not involved and his QPR teammate, Hogan Ephraim, may join him at The Valley before Thursday’s loan window closes.  The move suggests that Jackson’s injury is likely to sideline him for much of the remainder of the campaign.

The game got off to a sensational start when debut goal specialist, Dany N’Guessan, hit a speculative cross shot from the right touchline that sailed over Sam Walker’s head to nestle in the net after just six minutes.

Hamer hit a clearance straight to a Yeovil attacker but the Addicks regrouped to snuff out the danger.

There was precious little quality in the opening half so Charlton would have been delighted to take a lead into the break.

The Addicks upped their game after the interval and increased their lead on the hour mark.

A free-kick was played by Wiggins to Kermorgant who headed the ball back across the area for Wright-Phillips to head past Walker’s right.

The Addicks played some good football and Cort – possibly brought in with Saturday and Jordan Rhodes in mind – had a fine game and could even have scored at the end.

Yeovil hit the bar but rarely threatened Hamer’s goal.

The scoring was completed in the last minute when a sweeping move saw Wiggins deliver a perfect cross for Russell to stab home at the near post.

Elsewhere, Sheffield United and Huddersfield both won but Sheffield Wednesday needed a last minute equaliser to grab a point against Walsall at Hillsborough.

Some of the old confidence was back and the Addicks will head to the Galpharm in good spirits.
